Why Fishinwood

On November 25, 2021, our house was partially destroyed by 5 giant rocks that wreaked havoc downhill.(See photos) Fortunately, we didn't suffer a scratch, narrowly escaping harm. A few minutes and a few centimeters allowed me to create these small pieces from the wreckage of that accident, made of wood and a desire to return home.

It's a New Experience

Each board suggests a fish, there's no plan, just intuition. The gesture comes next, running after the saw and sandpaper, while colors invent themselves and lines play as they please.
In the end, the surprise. I love them.

It's our only home. We want to recover it because it's ours.
And it's unique.

A home made at home

It captivated us the first day we visited it, charmed us by giving us the opportunity to recreate it to our liking, with recycled materials, furniture collected from the street or second and third hand, donated by friends, and details made by ourselves. In 20 years, it transformed into our home.

Nature Struck Us

Enormous rocks fell from the mountain and destroyed part of our home. Our places of work, enjoyment, living with our daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and friends were affected. We were evacuated due to the risk of new collapses, and we still cannot return until the authorities fulfill their promises of necessary protection to prevent further landslides.

Art as Healing

I have found a way not to lose contact with our home, saving small pieces of wood and transforming them into art. Colorful fish to brighten our hearts and ease our minds, to prevent sadness and disillusionment from dominating us.

Rebuild

With the sale of these pieces, I aim to gather money to help in the reconstruction when we are allowed to return. Fish born to help rebuild our lives.
